Terms of Service

1. Service Description​

StreaLay ("the Service") is a desktop application and companion server that provides overlay and audio tools for live streamers. The Service includes:

  • A canvas editor for overlays with 9 element types (text, image, video, audio, timer, countdown, alert, twitch-alert, shape).
  • A music player with server tracks, local files, playlists, and HLS streaming.
  • An alert system with queue, history, and replay (Twitch events like follows, subscriptions, etc.).
  • OBS Control Dock - a browser dock for OBS Studio to control queue, player, and history.
  • Optional cloud synchronization for overlays, audio files, and settings across multiple devices.
  • OAuth login via Twitch and Discord (in addition to classic email/password login).

2. Accounts & Login​

You can log in via Twitch or Discord (OAuth) or with email and password. New accounts are automatically created on first OAuth login. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

3. Cloud Storage & Sync​

When you enable cloud sync, the Service stores your overlays, audio files, and selected settings on the StreaLay server. The default storage quota is 100 MB per user. Files are deduplicated within your own account using SHA-256 hashes - there is no cross-user deduplication.

4. Alert System & Event Processing​

The alert system processes incoming platform events (currently Twitch: follows, subscriptions, etc.) and queues them per project. Alerts play sequentially; different projects can run in parallel. Alert history stores the last 1000 events locally and optionally in the cloud. Test alerts use the same queue as real events.

5. OBS Control Dock​

The OBS Control Dock is a Custom Browser Dock for OBS Studio. It displays the current project theme, alert queue with pause/cancel controls, alert history with replay, and the music player with controls. Communication runs over a local WebSocket server in the Electron main process.

6. Acceptable Use​

You agree not to use the Service to store or distribute:

  • (a) content that violates applicable law;
  • (b) copyrighted material you do not have the right to store;
  • (c) malware or other malicious code;
  • (d) content that infringes the rights of third parties.

7. Data Retention & Deletion​

You can delete individual files at any time via the app. All synced data can be deleted via the Sync tab in Settings, or by withdrawing your storage consent. Alert history can be cleared per project or globally.

8. Service Availability​

The Service is provided "as is" without guarantee of availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time. We are not liable for data loss caused by service interruptions, but we maintain reasonable backup practices.

9. Limitation of Liability​

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StreaLay shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. The Service is a tool for streamers and is not a primary data storage service - you are encouraged to maintain your own local backups.

10. Changes to These Terms​

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the app or email.
