Learn how to get the most out of StreaLay.

Getting Started​

Installation​

Download the latest version, run the installer, and launch StreaLay. On first launch, you can sign in via Twitch, Discord, or email.

Creating Your First Overlay​

  1. Click New Project in the sidebar.
  2. Choose a template from the gallery or start from scratch.
  3. Add elements (text, image, video, audio, timer, countdown, alert, twitch-alert, shape) via the toolbar.
  4. Arrange and style elements on the canvas.
  5. Manage layers via the layer tree (drag and drop).
  6. Click Save (Ctrl+S).

Connecting to OBS​

  1. Open Settings → Connections.
  2. Click Add Connection.
  3. Copy the browser source URL.
  4. In OBS, add a Browser Source and paste the URL.
  5. Set the dimensions to match your canvas size.

Canvas Editor​

9 element types: text, image, video, audio, timer, countdown, alert, twitch-alert, and shape. Drag elements to reposition, use the properties panel to customize appearance, and manage layers via the layer tree with drag and drop. Undo/redo via Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z.

Music Player​

Built-in audio player supporting both server tracks and local files. Create playlists, shuffle, and control playback from the global player bar. Server tracks are streamed via HLS with caching for offline use. Supports queue management, repeat modes, and favorites.

Alert System (Queue and History)​

The alert system processes Twitch events (follows, subscriptions, etc.) and queues them per project. Alerts play sequentially; different projects can run in parallel. Pause lets the current alert finish. Cancel clears only waiting alerts. History stores the last 1000 events. Replay function for past alerts.

OBS Control Dock​

A Custom Browser Dock for OBS Studio. Added via OBS → Docks → Custom Browser Docks with the dock URL from Settings → OBS Control. Displays the current project theme, alert queue with pause/cancel controls, alert history with replay, and the music player with play/pause, stop, next, previous, volume. Live theme changes are applied instantly.

OAuth Login​

Sign in via Twitch or Discord (OAuth). New accounts are automatically created on first login. Classic email/password login available as fallback. Platform connections (Twitch EventSub) are separate from account login.

Admin Panel​

Separate popout window with 6 main tabs: Server, Updates, Users, Analytics, Tools (incl. Admin Console), Music. Admin-only. Live dashboards with real-time metrics.

Cloud Sync​

Enable Cloud Sync in Settings → Cloud Sync to sync your projects across devices. Sync runs automatically in the background. Conflicts are detected and can be resolved manually. Backup ZIP export available.

Templates​

Built-in templates (5 overlay + 3 alert) provide starting points for common overlay types. Open the Template Gallery to browse and create projects from templates.

General​

Language, startup behavior, tray preferences, auto-launch.

Appearance​

6 customizable base colors. Themes apply instantly and sync via Cloud Sync.

Privacy​

Feature tracking and log sharing - both opt-in. See the Privacy Policy for details.

OBS Control​

OBS server management, source tests, port configuration.

Updates​

StreaLay checks for updates automatically. Stable and unstable channels available.

Keyboard Shortcuts​

  • Ctrl+Z - Undo
  • Ctrl+Shift+Z - Redo
  • Ctrl+D - Duplicate selected element
  • Delete - Delete selected element
  • Ctrl+S - Save project
